Pop-Up Exhibitions

The Museum’s archivists and researchers are constantly striving to update and improve the current learning and educational tools. Mobile exhibitions have been created in pop up display format to educate the public at events such as exhibitions and presentations. The following travelling exhibitions are available:

  1. The 13th Royal Irish Rifles (The Co.Down Volunteers).
  2. The History of the 36th (Ulster) Division.
  3. Women in the First World War.
  4. 'D DAY Voices'.
  5. The Secret Listeners of Gilnahirk.

Commemorations in France

1st July Commemoration

There is a Service of Remembrance each year at 2.30pm on 1st July at the Ulster Tower, Thiepval, to commemorate the men and women of Ulster who gave their lives in the First World War and a wreath laying ceremony at 4.45pm on 1st July at the Ginchy Cross in the village of Guillemont to the men of the 16th (Irish) Division.

The Somme Museum has a designated Researcher to carry out your research request.

Research Costs
Free to 'Friends of the Somme'
Research form to be returned with £10 admin fee (this is non-refundable)
A further £15.00 is payable on receipt of relevant information, the research having been successful.
